It is animals who can give us a lot of encouragement and motivation and there is none more deserving of going viral than the story of Maggie who made headlines news this year. A resilient girl with a beautiful personality, Maggie had endured the worst horrors imaginable in Lebanon where she was discovered with her eyes shot out, ear cut off and a broken jaw. Maggie had been shot 17 times. Thankfully her story ends in the comforting fact that she is now happy.

Maggie was found in horrific conditions by the animal charity Wild At Heart in Lebanon. She was tied to a box with her eyes shot out, a broken jaw,  one ear cut off and bullet wounds in her body that showed she had been shot multiple times. At the time, Maggie was 5 years old and pregnant. But fortunately, her luck was about to change.

Wild at heart started an online campaign to try and get Maggie out of Lebanon. It was Kasey Carlin from Brighton who heard about Maggie last year and decided to adopt her to give her a better life. It took the NGO 6 months to finally get Maggie out of Lebanon.

Before leaving Lebanon, Maggie had surgery which is when Kasey was confronted with the reality of her injuries which were extensive. Her eyes were sewn up to prevent further damage and then finally she was well enough to travel to the UK for a new life. Kasey said she was in tears when she met Maggie at the airport and since then contacted charities to get tips on how to maintain Maggie. Today she says she has never met a dog like Maggie who in spite of her ordeals, is still in love with life.

Today Maggie the wunderdog as she is known is an Instagram star and is also a therapy dog. She has more than 80K fans on Instagram and is even been registered as a therapy dog where she visits care homes, hospitals and universities to spread her own brand of positivity.

Maggie didn’t just become a therapy dog like that, she had to take exams and passed with flying colors. She is now a therapy dog with @underdog_international. Speaking in an interview, Kasey said "I know what happened to Maggie was horrendous but if her story can educate and inspire others to do good then at least we can do our part to make this world a little brighter.

Maggie’s story has captured hearts across the UK and now Kasey and Maggie work full time helping others online and in person. Kasey says “She's just brilliant. She's so energetic and bubbly. She walks off the lead and follows me around. She must have been in agony with all she's been through, but she never hurt anyone and she's so loving.

"She's got a great life and she wants so much out of it... I just want people to see that she's living life."

Well Maggie is deserving of every bit of the great life she is having now.
