Regardless of how fearless they may be, big cats like lions
or tigers are big lugs of mush when it comes to their young. To share a video
of a cute and adorable moment concerning animals is a sure way of winning the
hearts of the internet but what happens when you see a lion reduced form a
menacing beast to a lovable dad. It proves that human or animal, a parent is
always a parent. This was rightly portrayed in a video shared on September 6th
2019 by the Denver Zoo in the USA of a little lion cub playing in its enclosure.
The actions of Tobias the large male and his careful and
dainty behavior towards his little tyke of a son was something to behold. The
video captured Tobias crouching down to interact with the baby and that has
gone on to win over the internet. Tobias was praised by many for his gentle behavior
and it also goes to show, how animals too have the caring and parental instinct
as much as humans if not more.
The zoo revealed that the little cub had been born on July
25th and spent a good whole month bonding with his mommy Neliah,
daddy Tobias and half-sister Kamara. Incidentally, this is Neliah’s third
offspring. The cub is now awaiting his time in the limelight when he will be
making his debut in an outdoor habitat in the zoo as revealed by director Jake
Kubie who said, “He’s all the things you might expect of a lion cub: playful,
curious and energetic!”
Denver Zoo shares
regular Cubdates about their lions and the latest one shard on October 21 has
revealed that the little cub has been named Tatu and is fast growing up to be a
big boy. He already eats a pound of meat a day and weighs around 20 lbs.
It is important for people to know that African Lions are
fast disappearing in the last 25 years and are facing the biggest threat from
poaching, lack of prey and loss of habitat in their native areas. Denver Zoo in
the US does much to generate awareness by organizing several initiatives such
as adopt an animal where you can adopt one of the 4300 animals where you can
bring home a plush version of the animal.
Speaking about Tatu, a zoo rep was reported saying that “We hope that by
seeing our little lion cub, people will be inspired and take action to help
protect his wild counterparts and other wildlife around the world.”
Well, all the best to little Tatu. And you can see his
